Food: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts: S'mores and Salted Chocolate

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to do a quick post about the new doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.  I'm used to seeing new flavors from Krispy Kreme every few months or so. I thought I'd share this one before it gets changed again.

The first one is called S'mores. You no need to start a bonfire just to consume these. It uses a chocolate base that is topped with a lot of marshmallows, chocolate and graham bits. Too sweet? Not at all! I usually hear people talk about how their doughnuts are too sweet for them. They'd probably say otherwise once they taste this! The combination of ingredients [including the brands of the products used] were great for each other. I thought the sticky goodness of the marshmallow complimented the chocolate base and bits. The graham was a great addition too!

The second one is called Salted Chocolate. This one is exactly what it's name says. It's basically rich chocolate that has a little salt on top. This one is perfect when you'd like something a little salty after eating something too sweet. This is also really good with coffee [even my grandma believes so].

These are very nice. I'd like to see new flavors from Krispy Kreme soon though, so I can try them out.

Thanks for checking out today's post!

Food: Goldilocks Nutty Caramel Popcorn

Hello!

To start things off, I'd like to talk about "hashtag days". These are hashtags for everyday of the week. Throwback Thursday is a good example for this [BTW I didn't know what to call them, so I thought, "hashtag days"]. Anyway, I wanted to create my own and use them for a specific type of blog post for each day of the week [hopefully]. Today is Friday night for my country, so I thought #FoodieFriday. I may post about anything concerning food and/or beverages. I may even post my recipes or recipes I like if I get the chance.

Anyway, today, I wanted to talk about a snack I always eat. I discovered this 2 months ago or so. I instantly liked it because I liked nuts and popcorn. This is the Nutty Caramel Popcorn from Goldilocks. It's name actually describes it all, Caramelized Popcorn and nuts in one container.

My favorite thing about this is that it isn't that sweet. Usually, when caramel is involved, it's very sweet. I always say I have a sweet tooth, but I have my limits. I don't like food or beverages that are too sweet. I easily lose interest in such food. This one though, I really liked. It is the perfect snack for almost all of the things I do, which include creating papers for school.

The only thing I don't like about this product is that it doesn't come in bigger sizes. It comes in a 40g pack for 17 pesos. I do hope they change that soon. Perhaps they are still testing it out in the market, see how it does. I do hope they create bigger sizes soon. I'm a sure buyer!

P.S. I also have a little trouble opening the little pack [with my hands]. You'll probably need a handy pair of scissors around when you try it out.

This one was quite short, but I hope you liked it. Thanks for reading my post.

Event | Food: Make my Magnum

Yesterday, I promised I will be doing another post in connection with the Great British Festival. Well, here it is! The Make your Own Magnum Booth at the Food Section of the The G.B.F.

I was pretty stoked when I saw this booth. I have a sweet tooth and I've always enjoyed eating Magnum Ice Cream. I also love customizing my food. This was like the perfect booth for me at the event.

Basically, you'd have to pick out what 3 toppings you like, if you'd like it to be dipped in chocolate or white chocolate and if you want either chocolate or white chocolate for the drizzle.

There were a lot of toppings to choose from. I was a little baffled as to what I wanted for my Magnum. I have a limited number of choices, but I felt like I wanted to make the perfect combination. I have to say though, the girl who made mine was a little rude. I remember asking her if we could also have drizzle because the two ladies in front of us have drizzle on theirs. She then tells me, "Wait - Just Wait"[I'm unsure if she also said something about waiting for my turn]. I normally wouldn't be offended by that, but her tone as she said it to me wasn't really very nice. I remember telling her "Thank you" instead of apologizing because I don't believe I've done anything wrong. I just asked because it might be a choice, whether we want drizzle or not. In my opinion, it was a little disrespectful. Say what you want, but I didn't think asking if we could also have that option was a bad thing. I usually ask staff or employees from different establishments questions, but I was always answered politely. Isn't that part of their training? In my opinion, even if a customer asks a "stupid" question [especially if it was asked politely], then the employees should answer in a polite manner. I just thought the situation could have been handled differently. My experience was honestly tarnished because of this.  I honestly thought her tone, [the way she spoke to me] was a little rude.  As we all know, Customer service is an important factor when operating the business.

Anyway, let's go back to talking about the product itself. My toppings were the almonds, pistachios and the golden nuggets. It was then dipped in chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate. It was really good! The almonds, chocolate and pistachios were really nice together. The only thing I would change is the gold nuggets. I guess it just wasn't the perfect combination. My Magnum was great nevertheless.

This next one is also really good. This is the better combination of the two. The toppings were almonds, pistachios and quezo de bola. The cheese contrasted the sweetness of the white chocolate. If they have another booth like this, I'll probably try these toppings but dipped in chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience. I did not enjoy the service, but the product was amazing. I'll probably try it out again. Hopefully by then the staff would be different. I'd recommend this to everyone who enjoy customizing their food. You can get this for 100 pesos. It's not too expensive just because the ones they do have in stores are priced at 55 - 60 pesos? I thought adding that additional 40-45 pesos was worth the experience.

P.S. I didn't write about their female employee because I want her fired or anything, I just wanted to write the whole experience. The service was part of the experience. I guess I'd also like this to serve as a reminder that different people have different reactions and perception regarding tone, facial expressions and use of words. I felt a little disrespected. That's it.

Anyway, enough of that! Thanks for reading!

Do you have a dog? Is he/she picky with food? Stay tuned for my next post. I'll be talking about a canned dog food my picky toy poodle loves. I'll have it posted either tonight or tomorrow.

Hugs

Food Review: Walnut Muffin from Cup of Faith Coffee Shop

Hello!

How is everyone doing? I'd like to share this nice little treat I got last July 25th from a cute coffee shop/Christian bookstore located inside the Christ's Commision Fellowship in Pasig. I was there for a seminar called "Turn Around Marketing". It is called "A Cup of Faith", a very fitting name if you ask me. I wanted to try something from there and decided to go with the Walnut Muffin.

I thought it looked appetizing and the walnuts on the top just made it a whole lot better.

The muffin was soft. It was coming apart a little bit as I tried to eat it. I took photos of it inside the store, but I asked for a bag so I can eat it while walking or while we're still outside the main hall.

I really liked the muffin. It had the right amount of sweetness. The walnuts brought that little crunch and gave it a distinct taste. I think I also tasted cinnamon in there. I liked how it all balanced the taste of the muffin. Usually, the bottom half of a muffin makes me lose my interest because it holds the least flavor. In this case though, the taste of the cinnamon was consistent, which made eating it all good.

The coffee shop was on the second floor of the book shop. It had a flight of stairs that leads to it. If only I was living near CCF, I would love to stay there when reading a book. Although, I did notice how the floor in the coffee shop was a little "shakey". It was like it was vibrating a little bit.

The staff were very accommodating. I like how they handle their customers. They were all smiles and were more than happy to give me information I wanted.

Overall, I'd say it was really nice. I'd buy one again. I'd even try something else from their array of treats. My grandmother said it was the first muffin she actually liked, so that is saying a lot. She does not like muffins and cupcakes. She prefers donuts, but this one passed the test.

Here is a map that shows where CCF is. To all my readers/viewers, I'm sorry this one is located inside the Philippines.

I'd give the muffin a 4 out of 5 Stars!

Note: I'm trying to keep the reviews/posts direct to the point. I don't exactly want to dilly-dally on things that don't really matter. I hope you'd like my posts better this way. If not, you can let me know in the comments below.

Food Review: All Meat Pizza by The Pizza Warehouse

I was able to receive the first half of my allowance from my internship.  My mom was also in town which is why I decided to take my family out to eat. We went to a newly opened store called the Pizza Warehouse in Glorietta.

Ambiance: It was pretty generic. It had basic chairs, tables and lighting. The only difference is that they have this big glass screen that allows you to see what happens in the kitchen. You'd be able to see how they prepared the food and if they were clean. It was a nice addition. I don't mind eating somewhere with a generic look as long as the food was good and that it was correctly and cleanly prepared. There were a lot of people eating there and from what I see they didn't mind that the setting was a bit like a food court.

Staff: The staff were nice and accommodating. They happily answered whenever I asked a question. They also replied politely when I asked why their utensils easily broke.

Food: I ordered the 18 inch All Meat Pizza. I always order All Meat Pizza (My Favorite). Because of this, I was prepared to judge it hard.

-The presentation was okay. It was still generic. I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.
-It was still really hot. If they brought it to me cold, I would have complained.
-Taste: The crust was a bit undercooked. It took quite an effort to slice it into little pieces. We often broke the utensils and had to ask for more. To our defense, the utensils were weak and substandard. One of the employees apologized and said that the new utensils won't arrive till the following week. The toppings were really nice though. The meat was seasoned well and was able to dominate the pizza. The cheese they used was also good. I love being able to identify the taste of the cheese in pizza. As much as I love meat, I also love cheese. It was melted and gooey.

Sorry guys! I got too excited so I forgot to take a photo of the whole pizza. This is what's left when I remembered.

Overall, I'd go back. It was worth it and they did serve good food. I would probably inform them of the slightly undercooked crust next time and maybe they'd get it just right.

I'd give it 4 Stars ★★★★

Food Review: Bacon Cheese Burger by Malcolms' Burgers

I was still doing my internship when I created this post. I forgot to post it.

Hi everyone,

It was lunch time. My friend and I stumbled upon a place called Malcolm's Burger. I like burgers and I told my friend it would be nice to try something new today. She agreed so we bought our lunch and brought it back to the office. I bought their Bacon Cheese Burger while she had the Chicken Sandwich.

Malcolm's Burger uses something called Wagyu Beef, which is actually from a Japanese cow. According to wagyu.org "Not only is it a gastronomic delight, but it’s healthy for you too. Health experts have discovered the mono-unsaturated to saturated fat ratio is higher in Wagyu than in other beef and, the saturated fat contained in Wagyu is different. Forty percent is in a version called stearic acid, which is regarded as having a minimal impact in raising cholesterol levels. The profile of marbled Wagyu beef is more beneficial and healthier to human health." (read more about Wagyu Beef). Apparently, the burger must be consumed in less than three hours.

Ambiance: The place was pretty small. they can only put 2 tables on either side of the counter. Although it has a few more tables and chairs outside. It was very hot because they did not have an air conditioner. They wouldn't really need it though because the majority of the chairs are outside. It looks like one of those take out restaurants who placed a few tables and chairs just so they could say people could dine in. They had such a small space that they wouldn't be able to transform it into a traditional restaurant/ burger joint anyway.

Staff: The cashier was the only one I was able to interact with and he seemed very nice. He was accommodating. He didn't mind me asking about the different burgers. He said one of the best sellers was the Bacon Cheese Burgers and I was happy to try it. I even gave my preference with the bacon and they were happy to comply.

Food: It was really Good!
-The Packaging was a bit different from the other burger joints. Instead of individually packing the chips and the burger, they placed it in one box. Usually, other places that sell burgers and fries separate them, then just put them in one big paper bag.

- The Preparation time was quite short. While waiting, my friend and I bought chocolate bars from the 7-11 beside Malcolm's and once we got back, our food was ready. I wasn't able to take notice of the exact time, but we did take some time picking chocolate bars.

Taste:
-The Buns were soft and didn't easily break apart.
-The Bacon was cooked the way I asked them to cook it. It was crispy without being overcooked.
-The Patties were really good. I thought they were seasoned nicely. It was juicy and overflowed with flavor.
-The lettuce, tomato and onions were all fresh. I liked that they were crisp.
-I also like the chips because they seemed like they were freshly made. they were all crispy and a tad oily.

Overall: I enjoyed my order and I plan on buying something from Malcolm's again. The Bacon Cheese Burger was delicious and I recommend it to people who likes burgers and would like to try something a bit new.

I would give it 4 Stars ★★★★

Food Review: Yellow Cab's Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza

Hi Lovelies! Have you been to Yellow Cab recently? Well, as you can see, I have. I've decided to have lunch there with my friends and I ordered a Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza. I bought it for 165 pesos and I was not able to track the time it took to be brought to me because I went out to buy myself a nice drink, since I did not like they currently had. That and I wanted to do something because I'm not a big fan of waiting. Anyway, we went to the Insular Life Building Branch in Makati City. If I was not able to inform everyone in my previous posts, I am from the Philippines.

This is a photo taken from Yellow Cab's Website. It is the advertised photo of the Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza. This is a nice photo that makes me feel hungry. Seriously, I'm a tad hungry at the moment.

Now, this is the photo I took after I had my first bite. No editing was done, except adding my blog's address. I do apologize because I was unable to take a photo of the inside of it, but I have to say I was not impressed with how it looked. If you zoom in on the sides, it was burnt and a little hard when eaten. That was the case for all the sides. The inside didn't really have as much "filling" as I expected as well. If you could see, it was pretty flat and the only filling I get near the sides are the greens. I get that food looks very different from its advertised photo, but I expected a little more from Yellow Cab.

I've been a fan of Yellow Cab for a few Years and my favorite has always been the 18' Manhattan Meatlovers. Their thin crust pizza mixed with the strong flavors of their meat is just amazing. I absolutely love it. Right now though, I feel like I'd have to stick with the normal pizzas that are for sharing if their my size folded pizzas are similar to this one. There are a few things I noticed with my order, which are:

1. I can't stress enough that I did not like the burnt parts. If I told the employees about it though and if they would change it for me, I would not have the time to eat it at all. I have a 1 hour lunch break and if they are to make another one, it'd probably be done by the time my break is up too. Let me remind you that I had to go there, make an order and wait. There is not enough time even if they were to give it to me in 12-15 minutes.

2. The Greens were a little overpowering. I'd like to think that since I ordered Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza, the "star" of the dish would be the chicken. Unfortunately, the greens were the ones that I always tasted.

3. The Sauce was Nice. Being the weird person that I am, I always eat the side of a dish first. I eat the middle last because that is the part that contains the most flavor. Once I got to the middle, I was finally able to taste the sauce and I really liked it. If I could taste that throughout the dish, I'd be a very happy girl.

4. The Ambiance of the Place was calming. Working in a fast paced environment, everything is always busy. To say that it was lunch time and almost every fast food place or restaurant is packed, the ambiance the branch provides is quite peaceful. I really had a break from work and I have to note how the temperature is just right. I don't like eating somewhere too hot or too cold.

5. They have Good Staff. I have to say that I am a little indecisive. It was my first time to eat the folded pizza and I was unsure what to pick. I was talking to the cashier asking her what the best seller for the folded pizzas were and she said it was either the Grilled Lime or the Shrimp. Since she gave me two answers, I still could not decide. I hate wasting money on food I do not like. I noticed someone behind me so I let them go ahead and I looked at the menu on the side. After I finally decided, I ordered and told her it was to go and I'd be back. I went out for a couple of minutes and went back. When I got back my friends finished ordering at a nearby Chowking and decided we could stay at Yellow Cab to eat. Realizing I did not have anything to drink, I was about to go out to find something when I passed by another one of our friends who will be joining us and she decided to buy something from Yellow Cab as well. While she ordered the same thing, I informed the cashier I'd like my order to be for "dine in" and I left. She obliged and went on to finish my order. Long story short, I was indecisive and the staff complied to everything I liked. Kudos to that cashier.

Perhaps some of you are thinking about how hard I am on my critique, and I do agree. I'm a little harsh, but I am telling you how it is. If it was me and I was planning on trying something out, would I like to read about how perfect something is, when in fact it is not? No. I want to know the facts. I want to know if I should buy it or not.

Do I recommend this product? If you would not mind the negative things I have told you and would like a taste of the nice middle part I liked, then go right ahead. I'm not sure if those things only happened to me, because my friend who ordered the same thing had a better dish, or at least I think so. I saw her munching on the sides and it didn't really have as much burns and I saw some sauce in it wherein mine was dry.

Let's say I recommend Yellow Cab's Normal Pizzas. I love them, I have yet to review them, but if I did they would probably be high. I liked this Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza, but not as much as I wanted. The middle part was great, and if I could have another which was better, I'd give this review an update. Maybe it was just the branch? Or it was a little incident that was overlooked? I don't know.

I want to love the Grilled Lime Chicken Folded Pizza from Yellow Cab, but the one I got was not satisfying enough. Don't let this product give you a bad image of Yellow Cab, because if I said it before, I will say it again. I love their Pizzas and I think you should try them if you have not. Try the Manhattan Meatlovers if you plan on ordering. Check out the site here: Yellow Cab's Website
